Purpose Driven Foundation Empowering Seniors, Enhancing Lives!
Why These Resources Matter
- Economic Hardship: Over 35% of seniors aged 65+ in Kern County lack enough income to cover basic needs, with many living below 138% of the federal poverty level (Justice in Aging, 2023).
- Healthcare Gaps: Kern County is home to over 7,900 uninsured seniors aged 55 and older, making access to free medical equipment in Bakersfield even more critical (Data Census, 2023).
- Reduce Medical Waste and Promote Sustainability: It was estimated, in the early 1990’s, that two million tons of medical waste is produced each year (New York TImes, 1990).
- Durable medical equipment is the most commonly used medical equipment and each piece of equipment can be used for a life cycle of up to 6 uses (Convalescent Aid Society, 2024).
- Independence and Dignity: Whether through mobility aids or personal hygiene items, these free senior services in Bakersfield allow older adults to lead safe, dignified, and independent lives.
Why Free Senior Services in Bakersfield Are Vital?
Durable Medical Equipment (DME): What It Is and Why It Matters?
Durable medical equipment includes essential items such as like wheelchairs, walkers, ramps, and bathroom safety tools. These tools enhance mobility, reduce fall risks, and help seniors live independently. For many older adults in need, the cost of durable medical equipment is expensive.
By offering free medical equipment in Bakersfield through our Equip for Life Program, we bridge the gap for seniors who would otherwise go without these life-enhancing resources.
Personal Hygiene Kits: Essential and Life-Changing
Personal hygiene kits provide seniors with necessary items such as oral care products, skincare essentials, grooming tools, and first aid supplies. Many seniors living on fixed incomes struggle to afford these basics, which are crucial for dignity, health, and confidence.
By distributing free senior resources in Bakersfield such as hygiene kits, we can ensure that seniors will not have to compromise on their well-being due to financial hardship.
